"Violin-2019"

 

 

I. Organizers:

1) Cultural Foundation “Music Entertainment”;

II. The place and time of the event:

 

2.1 Competition is held on the 26-30th of November, 2019;

III Application procedure, registration fee, general conditions:

 

3.1. The Competition is open for factory-made string instrument makers (factories, manufactories, crews etc.) with a brand name (trademark, commercial label).

3.2. Instruments for participation can be provided whether by makers (factories, manufactories, crews etc.) or by official distributors. In case of winning, the award goes to the maker and is bestowed to the contestant who has provided the instrument/bow.

 

3.3. The application for participation in the competition, a copy of the registration fee payment must be sent before November 10, 2019 by E-mail: violin@soulandshape.ru

 

3.4  The registration fee is 100 euros (1-2 instruments/bows).

The registration fee is 150 euros (3 instruments/bows).

 

Registration fee is non-refundable.

3.6 The instruments/bows for participation should be delivered: 10 - 24 November 2019.

 

3.7 The instruments/bows can be delivered for the competition Organizing committee personaly or through authorized representative:

3.8. Instruments by Poste mail are NOT ACCEPTED.

3.9. One participant can provide no more than 2 instruments / bows in each nomination.

3.10 The instruments/bows are represented in competition in a cover or a case anonymously – without any label (or opaque paper sticks to the label).

The maker's motto, written on a card in Latin letters, should be attached to the instrument's head. In the event of several instruments are submitted to the Competition, the mottos should be different.

 

2 envelopes are put in a case:

The first envelope is sealed. Outside, only the nomination and the motto of the instrument are written. Inside the envelope, data about the master:

a)           name factory-made string instrument makers (factories, manufactories, crews etc.), brand name (trademark, commercial label);

b)           year when the instrument is made;

c)           3 original labels;

d)           a statement accepting the Competition Regulations;

e)           a curriculum history factory;

f)                        2 photos of the instrument, size 10x15 cm., one viewing the face of the instrument, the other – the profile of its head.

 

The second envelope is not sealed. Outside, the same nomination and motto of the instrument should be written. Inside the envelope:

a) a power of attorney for minor repairs, in case of damage to the instrument during transportation, signed by the sender (repairs are carried out by a maker who does not participate in the competition);

b) a spare chord of strings.

 

The place of the sound-post should be marked in pencil in bottom deck. In the case of its offset during transportation, an authorized maker is able to place it.

 

3.11. After the end of the competition, an Exhibition of instruments that participated in the II and III rounds will be held, indicating the name factory-made and country.

The exhibition will last 2 days (November 29 and 30). No fee is paid for participation in the exhibition. After the end of the exhibition, instruments and bows are returned to the owners.

3.12 The instruments/bows which are exhibited in competition, can't be returned before the end of competition and an exhibition.

3.13. Participants insure their instruments for the duration of the Competition at their own expense.

The responsibility of the delivery of instruments and their collection upon the completion of the Competition rests with the submitters.

3.14 The organizing committee of competition reserves the right to photograph the instruments/bows exhibited in competition and to distribute pictures without any payments to their owners.

3.15 The cases of controversies during the Competition will be settled by the legal authorities of the country – Competition organizer.

3.16. Only Russian language will be considered as valid one.

V. Nomination «The School»:

5.1. The instruments allowed in competition: violin, violoncello. The size – 2/4, 3/4;

The year of instruments making – not earlier than 2009;

5.2. Restrictions for the instruments:

а)         that are not made of wood;

 

5.3. Instruments must be given with suggested retail price indication. Instruments are given in subnomination:

Violin: 1) Till 350 euro; 2) From 351 till 700 euro; 3) Over 701 euro;

Cello: 1) Till 900 euro; 2) From 901 till 1700 euro; 3) Over 1701 euro.

 

 

VI. Nomination «The Professional-Classic»:

 

6.1. The competition involves instruments from new materials (for example: carbon):

The instruments allowed in competition: violin, violoncello, bow. The size –4/4;

The year of instruments making – not earlier than 2009;

6.2. Restrictions for the instruments:

а)         that are not made of wood;

 

6.3. Instruments must be given with suggested retail price indication. Instruments are given in subnomination:

Violin: 1) Till 700 euro; 2) From 701 till 1350 euro; 3) Over 1351 euro;

Cello: 1) Till 1350 euro; 2) From 1351 till 2400 euro; 3) Over 2401 euro.

Bow: 1) Till 200 euro; 2) From 201 till 350 euro; 3) Over 351 euro.

 

 

VII. Nomination «The Professional-Modern»:

 

7.1. The competition involves instruments from traditional materials.

The instruments allowed in competition: violin, violoncello, bow. The size –4/4;

The year of instruments making – not earlier than 2009;

7.2. Restrictions for the instruments:

а)         no restrictions;

 

7.3. Instruments must be given with suggested retail price indication. Instruments are given in subnomination:

Violin: 1) Till 500 euro; 2) From 501 till 1000 euro; 3) Over 1001 euro;

Cello: 1) Till 1000 euro; 2) From 1001 till 1650 euro; 3) Over 1651 euro.

Bow: 1) Till 350 euro; 2) From 351 till 500 euro; 3) Over 501 euro.

 

 

VIII. Nomination «The Professional-Electro».

 

8.1. The instruments allowed in competition: violin, violoncello. The size –4/4;

The year of instruments making – not earlier than 2009;

6.2. Restrictions for the instruments:

а)         no restrictions;

 

7.3. Instruments must be given with suggested retail price indication. Instruments are given in subnomination:

Violin: 1) Till 500 euro; 2) From 501 till 1000 euro; 3) Over 1001 euro;

Cello: 1) Till 1000 euro; 2) From 1001 till 1650 euro; 3) Over 1651 euro.

 

IX. Jury:

9.1. Prominent violin makers and musicians - virtuosos will be invited to join the Jury. The Jury list will be announced prior to the Competition. The Jury Panel will give assessment for instruments in compliance with anonymity of violin makers.

9.2. The jury has the right: to award not all awards;

The jury's decision cannot be revised.

 

X. Order of carrying out competition:

Competition of instruments takes place in 2 rounds.

ROUND 1

The Jury will assess instruments: the makers will provide professional assessment, musicians will give assessment to instruments in chamber conditions. The best instruments are chosen in subnomination (on 3 instruments).

ROUND 2

The best instruments are chosen in nominations taking into account “price - quality”

 

 

XI. Awards (или awards and prizes)

«The School»:

I place (Gold medal), II place (Silver medal), III place (Bronze medal), IV place (diploma);

«The Professional-Classic»:

I place (Gold medal), II place (Silver medal), III place (Bronze medal), IV place (diploma);

«The Professional-Modern»:

I place (Gold medal), II place (Silver medal), III place (Bronze medal), IV place (diploma);

«The Professional-Electro»:

I place (Gold medal), II place (Silver medal), III place (Bronze medal), IV place (diploma);

 

11.1. Special diplomas are given:

a) For the best sound qualities;

b) For the best art and technical work of the maker;

c) For the best game qualities of a bow;

 

11.2. State and public organizations, artistic and professional unions, mass media, institutions, firms, private and juridical persons may grant special prizes and awards to participants upon agreement with the Organizing Committee and the Jury.
